Portraits of Architecture

07

In my undergraduate study, I interviewed a group of students from Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning and Art + Design majors at the University of Illinois. I am a landscape architecture student myself, and as a personal goal to promote design majors at my college as well as to get to know more artistic and talented people myself, I asked them a series of questions about their personal goals and passion in their majors and how they intend to influence the world of design, planning and architecture. Throughout the interview, I got to learn both the joys and tribulations of design-intensive majors. You may click on each of the portrait to read a short transcript of the interview with the subject. At the end of the interview, I took portraits of them in their personal workspaces (such as architecture studios or design labs), which they spend a lot of their time in. I hope that these photographs capture the essence of design majors, their study environments as well as the unique characters and personalities of the subjects. All photographs were taken by me with a KOWA 6 camera, in medium format, using Kodak Professional PORTRA 800 film. If you want to publish these photos, you may contact me at the bottom of this page.
