In my undergraduate study, I interviewed a group of students from Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning and Art + Design majors at the University of Illinois. I am a landscape architecture student myself, and as a personal goal to promote design majors at my college as well as to get to know more artistic and talented people myself, I asked them a series of questions about their personal goals and passion in their majors and how they intend to influence the world of design, planning and architecture. Throughout the interview, I got to learn both the joys and tribulations of design-intensive majors. You may click on each of the portrait to read a short transcript of the interview with the subject. At the end of the interview, I took portraits of them in their personal workspaces (such as architecture studios or design labs), which they spend a lot of their time in. I hope that these photographs capture the essence of design majors, their study environments as well as the unique characters and personalities of the subjects.
